Brent Simmons and NewsGator have just released TapLynx, an iPhone RSS application framework. I saw Brent give a presentation on the ease of building apps with TapLynx at 360|iDev, and I must say I'm impressed. Entire applications can be rolled out without any prior knowledge of Objective C.

Brent Simmons has emerged from his cave, unwashed and unshaven, to bestow upon the world a new version of NetNewsWire for the iPhone. This version comes at the introductory price of $1.99, and there's also an ad-supported variant. Both apps support Google Reader sync.
Oh, and NetNewsWire 3.2 for the Mac ...

Yours truly details why the Coathangr iPhone app was rejected:
I want to be very clear about this: Apple was extremely polite and helpful. They pointed us to the docs and gave us helpful examples of how to fix the problem, and offered up developer support if we had any problems with implementing the ...

Fake Steve on Chrome OS:
Trying to make an OS out of Chrome is like saying you're going to turn a Pontiac Aztek into a stretch limousine. I suppose it could be done, but why?
Apple isn't in the netbook market, so there's no reason to even consider Chrome OS a competitor. ...

I may not have attended the conference proper (it's really expensive, and I'm not a developer), but my trip was still filled with interesting lessons. Consider this an addendum to Brent's WWDC Tips.
If you can't afford the sessions, you can still learn at SFMOMA
Go shopping or have tea in the ...

Dan Burcaw on the state of iPhone innovation:
Fast forward to now. Unfortunately, I must report that the situation is similar if not worse. Each week, my team receives a tremendous number of requests from individuals looking to strike it rich with the iPhone and App Store. The vast majority are ...

When Saurik announced the Cydia Store, my first reaction was: what the fuck?
After giving it some thought and examining possible use cases for such a thing, my question stands. The jailbreak/"hacker" community has thus far been reliant on software that is free, either by design or by interference. What on ...

Brent Simmons is looking for the perfect version control system, and has this complaint about Git:
When I’m finished working on my laptop and I commit my changes, they’re not available on my desktop. I have to take the extra step of pushing the changes.
And then, back at my desktop, I ...

Alex King and his company, Crowd Favorite, are hosting WordCamp Denver (tickets available here). While the focus will obviously be on WordPress and related concepts, the event also presents an amazing networking opportunity for bloggers, designers, and tech workers regardless of technology preference. At $20, I couldn't justify not going.
Plus, this ...

Excellent article from Marcus Zarra at Cocoa is My Girlfriend:
No one is going to pay you for adding code to your software that is targeted at pirates. However you have a good chance of losing money if your customers get caught in your anti-piracy code and can’t use their software ...

St. Peter pointed me to an interesting discussion on the Adium-dev mailing list. Their approach is nearly identical to what Beejive is doing (read: the right thing), but if anyone can give Beejive a run for their money, it could well be the Adium team. We've already seen libpurple ported ...
