Link Disclosure
Kottke posted a fun story explaining his Amazon linking policy. In the spirit of such disclosure, I’ll call out my own, similar policy.
Any time you see an Amazon link on Better Elevation, rest assured that my affiliate code is in there. I don’t do quite the traffic that Kottke does, so the strangest think in my users’ ordering history is this Precious Moments statuette. But hey, that is pretty strange.
I don’t do Amazon links often, but perhaps I should. Especially since the single post popular article I’ve ever written happens to be the first search result on Google for “gold box trick” (where I linked to my totally awesome TV). It could become a regular feature; I could talk about the stuff I’m currently lusting after, like this incredibly fast solid state hard drive (also available in 256GB). Or things I’ve recently purchased from Amazon myself, like Thinking With Type.
Regardless, I wanted to make sure everyone was aware that, yes, I’ll make money if you buy stuff using my links. But with the exception of that weird statuette, my policy is to only link to products I own or am interested in owning.
