Woot compiles a list of their favorite unsung improvements from yesterday's refresh: 7. New iMac is the Mayor of Cupertino on @foursquare!

The New Macs

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

The mouse was the exciting part (to me), but this is incredible: the new iMac comes in a 27" version, has an available quad-core CPU, and supports up to 16GB of memory. And Apple loves saying unibody so much that they've redesigned the Macbook to feel more like the consumer cousin ...

Magic Mouse

I've become so addicted to multi-touch gestures that I use my Macbook's touchpad even when connected to an external display. That changes today.

• What the Droid Says About Verizon and the iPhone

Monday, October 19th, 2009

Verizon has launched an interesting iDon't campaign to promote their upcoming Droid phone. The commercial is pretty simple, listing a bunch of the iPhone's alleged weak points, each preceded by the epically clever "iDon't". In the end, we're told that Droid, a new Android-based phone from Verizon, will fill all ...

And don't charge extra for wifi -- it just seems greedy. -Barney Stinson Sure, he was talking about hotels, but his words still come to mind while readingĀ about the declining revenues of airlines who tack on extra fees for every little thing. Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

Brent Simmons and NewsGator have just released TapLynx, an iPhone RSS application framework. I saw Brent give a presentation on the ease of building apps with TapLynx at 360|iDev, and I must say I'm impressed. Entire applications can be rolled out without any prior knowledge of Objective C.

10/GUI

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

People are excited aboutĀ 10/GUI. And for good reason. The desktop metaphor is stale, and we would all benefit from a better idea.

Designing the NNW Icon

Friday, October 9th, 2009

Because I'm apparently in love with Brad Ellis and can't stop talking about him, here's his writeup on the design process for both the desktop and iPhone versions of NetNewsWire. The decision to ditch the rings when the badge is present is an important one to note. Attention to detail and ...

AT&T May Allow VoIP

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

The rumor is that AT&T will allow Skype on the 3G network. Is anyone having such a great experience with AT&T's network that they're genuinely excited about what will happen when they have to share the network with VoIP traffic?

LiveView

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

I can't believe something this useful and specific is free. LiveView takes an iPhone-sized chunk of your screen and sends it to an iPhone. Prototyping just got a lot faster. (Via Brad Ellis)
